Office of Special Programs - College Prep
The Office of Special Programs-College Prep's after-school program for high school students seeks a Program Assistant: Computer Lab Technician to configure and maintain laptop, desktop, Chromebook and Google tablet connectivity to University of Chicago’s secure network. This position will work collaboratively with University of Chicago ITS to ensure that adequate IT infrastructure is in place and is used to its best capabilities. The ideal candidate must have the capacity to work diligently and accurately and possess a problem-solving ability to fix issues and ensure functionality.
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to
(1) Configuring and maintaining Chromebooks and Google tablets
(2) Setting up hardware and installing and configuring software and drivers
(3) Arranging maintenance/service sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies
(4) Servicing and maintaining a small on-site computer lab of up to 20 desktops and laptops and other peripheral devices
(5) Managing security options and software on computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks
(6) Performing periodic upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
(7) Keeping records of repairs and fixes for future reference
(8) Offering timely technical support and teaching users how to utilize computers.
The position offers flexible hours on Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A minimum commitment of 10 to 20 hours per week is required based on specific technology needs.
